Doesn't surprise me at all. Then again I worked for a company that made spy satellites and aircraft surveillance cameras for the govt. The one we exported (obviously not as good as what we kept for ourselves)you could probably tell the make/model of every car in a parking lot from 60km up. The domestic one had a far larger (pixels) CCD and I'm sure better optics, I'd bet you could read the license plates with it. That was 20 years ago.

We also worked on "star wars" in the 80s&90s... BSTS (boost surveillance/tracking), etc, that then became other names... Pretty crude initially by today's standards, I can imagine how far it's come in 30 years.
