You're just going to get your dog shot, you're talking about violent criminal activity in America, everybody is packing heat, soon as they see a pit bull, or a bulldog, they're going to shoot the dog on the spot.

If the threat is so low level, as to just run off because you have a dog, then that's not a threat requiring lethal force in the first place. If the threat is at lethal force level, it's going to shoot your dog, first thing, which could very likely be the police, so I would keep my dog well and clear of it, unless your dog is expendable to you, which mine are not.

The family dog is in the family, it's not an expendable round downrange, you're protecting your dogs too, which, that's what the .357 magnum is for.

If you're conditioning your family dog to be a vicious attack dog, that's irresponsible to start off with, if it is conditioned to attack people, it's the threat in the neighborhood, that's how people get mauled.

I would get my gun, and he's perfectly safe. He knows threats when he sees them. The only thing that really sets him off is seeing adults get aggressive with their kids.
