The offending postcard:Muslims outraged at police advert featuring cute puppy sitting in policeman's hat
A postcard featuring a cute puppy sitting in a policeman's hat advertising a Scottish police force's new telephone number has sparked outrage from Muslims.

A spokesman for Tayside Police said: 'Trainee police dog Rebel has proved extremely popular with children and adults since being introduced to the public, aged six weeks old, as Tayside Police's newest canine recruit.
'His incredible world-wide popularity - he has attracted record visitor numbers to our website - led us to believe Rebel could play a starring role in the promotion of our non-emergency number.
'We did not seek advice from the force's diversity adviser prior to publishing and distributing the postcards. That was an oversight and we apologise for any offence caused.'

Culturally and historically did Arabs not have dogs or something? Yea they are considered "unclean" but did they also never have them for herding sheep/goats etc.? WTH.

And the fact that 1) the police has a diversity advisor, and 2) they are apologizing makes it all the more egregious. Don't like how we do things in the West? Leave.

The UK cucked out to the caliphate? Inconceivable!
It's not that muslims don't have dogs. They do. They're just pissed the photo wasn't of a mangy mutt from the middle east holding the severed head of an infidel in its yap. Scotland Yard will get it right next time.

Re: Europe, the not boring thread
My son had a Muslim girl in his class. There was a lot of standard bullshit, the mom had to walk to pick her up while the dad would drive, mom wore a hijab, etc. but they were actually nice people.
One day I had my dog with me while all the kids were at the park behind school. The little girl came up and said can I pet your dog? My mom and dad say I can't pet dogs. I said, go ahead, and considered myself a winner against oppression that day

I never trust a person if they don't like dogs, but I always trust a dog if they don't like a person.

Muhammed himself had dogs and apparantly treated them kindly, and declared that someone who had treated dogs justly would go to heaven. The dogs-as-unclean thing comes from the hadiths, the parts of the Koran that weren't written (or dictated by) Muhammed, but were written down after his death.GloryofGreece wrote:Culturally and historically did Arabs not have dogs or something? Re: Europe, the not boring thread
I can confirm that they don't like dogs. I have to keep the dogs separated from some neighbors. It's really sad because the kids want to play with the dogs in the neighborhood but are not allowed to.
Imagine little girls who grow up with puppies everywhere who have never been able to pet or play with a puppy. They are good people, though. I just feel bad for the little girls.
I don't know if it's all Muslims like this or not, though. Maybe it's just certain kinds, like how Protestant heretics eat meat on Good Friday.
