The reason your brain is sharp on lo-carb is the same reason HGH goes up... No fuckin' insulin depressing everything.

Fit people don't have a lot of fat. Fat is an awesome source of energy (ketones), but if you have no fat, you have to eat some carbs, otherwise after the tiny bit of glycogen in your muscles runs out, you're done, even if there is still some glyc in your liver.

Re: The diet of Metas - Ketogenic
I mean.. I can tell you right now.. I keep track of my diet, and if I go a few days where I didn't eat enough carbs, my strength drops tremendously in the gym. This just happened to me last night where I was trying to do some bench presses, and my reps in my my last two working sets dropped by fifty percent. When I looked at the diary, I could see why.
On the other hand, in my endomondo app, it said my running times were a bit higher than usual.
I think if you are really devoted to improving performance in some sport, you should consider the impact of low carbs on your training. Less volume at lower weights means fewer gains over time for the lifter. But, if you are running or cycling or something like that, maybe it would be a really good deal.
Maybe it's also genetic or there is some physiological training component here where, after a long time, your body begins to adapt to it. Not sure about that either.

Calories are some 19th Century way of measuring nothing. Forget fucking calories. SUGAR is all you need to worry about.doc_loliday wrote:What do you mean?Martin Hash wrote: Calories are bullshit.

Re: The diet of Metas - Ketogenic
But you can 100% without a doubt lose weight by eating nothing but sugary snacks, so long as you keep your calories under some number, say 2000.
You can gain weight by eating large amounts of non sugar foods. Now, I presume you mean carbs in general and I'm not sure how easy it is to gain weight on the keto diet.
So, I wouldn't say calories are bullshit, it's just that they aren't the only thing to consider if you want to maximize or minimize weight loss.

Yeah, there is some truth to debunking the calorie is a calorie idea, but that's not the whole story.
I very much doubt you can eat a diet of no carbs, stuff your face all the time, and lose weight. Your body can turn the consumed fat and protein into energy too.

Protein is turned into glucose if you need it but not if you don't.Speaker to Animals wrote:I very much doubt you can eat a diet of no carbs, stuff your face all the time, and lose weight. Your body can turn the consumed fat and protein into energy too.
Glucose can be metabolized into fat.
Fructose can be metabolized into fat.
Alcohol can be metabolized into fat.
