Best Films of 2016/2017

I still don't get how this movie set 70 years ago has modern actors and CGI. Doesn't make too much sense.None of the people in that film would have been alive when Dunkirk happened.

It was quite different from any new films I've seen in a long, long time.

There is very little dialog, and no unnecessary dialog, which adds to the gravity of the situation. The director had stars like Tom Hardy, but see little but his eyes for most the film. There were no phony forced romances, no focus on blood and gore, and no overt atempts to involve minor players in the story.

The brilliance of the film is its simplicity in telling of a dramatic event.

In way it reminded me of a Thin Red Line. Sure there was dialogue in both movies and more character development in TRL but both were getting at the "feel" of war and uncertainty and all the terror that goes into it.

Blade Runner 2049 = 9/10

Great visual effects. Good story and progression throughout three hours. There's enough action, drama, and conclusion to be satisfied. Anyone else seen it yet?

Did you guys notice the names of the females and how their character arcs related to their names?

What was he's hologram girlfriend's name? I know "she" was only programed to say and do things he liked or was likely to want etc. but at the end it made me really start to belive she loved him.

I'm slower so bear with me and help me out, but Im guessing Joe's "memory" of the horse wasn't real it was programmed, or was it? Does anyone think the replicant child was really a half human half replicant (being that she had to be in a quarantined environment and has some type of immune system issue)? Also if Deckard is a replicant why is slower and old now?
