This probably belongs in the other thread but I really want to try my hand at these when I find a good camp ground in the fall.

You will get far more success from building a box trap out of some sticks. Snare traps are usually meant for emergency situations where you don't have time to manufacture more effective traps, or you need something that is not easily identifiable (like SERE).

As long as you have some cordage, something like this is really easy to make:




And it's quite a lot more effective than a snare.

Trapping is more efficient in the long run, though. For a true survival situation, you want to graduate to trapping at some point.
