I'm not going to give up on Game of Thrones though, I'll be hope watching until the end, hoping that it will get back to it's old form in the final six episodes, but I doubt that it will nail the landing, but hopefully they won't fuck it up that bad either.
If they fuck the ending up really bad, then Game of Thrones is basically the dramatic equivalent of How I Met Your Mother. Such wasted potential, milking a franchise way past it's expiry date, because it's popularity allows them to milk it for cash, instead of ending it before it falls off, to leave on a high note.

Kath would probably like NCIS Boulder or that Blue Bloods show. That would be more her speed I think and they are about the writing level of GoT at the moment. Plus they always catch the bad guy by the end of the episode so it makes it easy to follow and understand!

I really just don't have a lot of time to devote to paying attention to television. For most of what I watch, television is background noise to me while I get shit done. I watch shows that are simple enough that I can leave it running and leave the room for 5-10 minutes and be caught up on my way back into the room, yet interesting enough that if I feel like taking a break, I'm okay with what's going on. Cooking & home remodeling shows are good for me, there.
I wish I had time in the evenings to be able to sit on the couch for a few hours a night and pay attention to fiction, but I don't usually have that kind of time. On the weekends, we go out and adult for the most part. When we stay home, we are not usually watching tv. During the day, we chore or play in the garden or pool. Life is good.
When I do have time to binge, I'll try a new series for up to three episodes. If it doesn't grab me by then, it's probably not going to. I have so little binge time, not going to waste it being annoyed.
I actually had to schedule out re-watching GoT. I get to see Ep 7.1 on Sunday.

The three episode rule isn't working out that great for you Kath, you have given up on the three best shows of all time, because of it. Maybe you should just trust everyone who has seen them when they say it's great, instead of being so paranoid about shows that are widely considered to be the greatest TV drama's of all-time, especially by people who have seen a lot more quality television than yourself.
There are exceptions to every rule, perhaps you should make an exception or three, in the case of, The Wire, The Sopranos and Breaking Bad. At least you still get to watch those shows for the first time, one day, if you ever get around to it, that is. If you do, then your mind will be blown as to how much higher the bar for TV drama can get, compared to where you had previously set the bar. The Americans for example, quite a step up from Game of Thrones, and the likes of The Wire, The Sopranos and Breaking Bad, are quite a step up from The Americans.

I'm just busting your balls Kath. The reason I am harsh on the show now is because I did enjoy it until Tywin died, and then they just decided to screw things up. I wonder if Martin is down with the final product. It is jarring how different the show gets after the fourth season ends. I suspect he is being paid boatloads of money to keep his opinions to himself on such things.Kath wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2019 1:17 pmheydaralon wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2019 12:52 pm

Eh, the books were much better, and the storyline seems simplistic when compared to game of thrones. Also, Ultred son of Ultred is supposed to be fucking badass brute, played by someone who more resembled Arnold in Conan.

I've found Cornwell to be uneven. Some books and series are great, some unreadable. I liked Agincourt a lot, but couldn't get into the Grailquest series at all.Speaker to Animals wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2019 6:08 pm show not so great. The novels are awesome. The audiobooks have a great narrator too.

Jaqen H'ghar is a character that I would like to see fleshed out Drizzt Do'Urden style.

The grail novels were okay. I actually liked his Arthurian stories the most. The Saxon Chronicles the second most. He has another historical series I never read with the most of all his books, and it's supposed to be quite good, but I have not read any of them.brewster wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2019 8:32 pmI've found Cornwell to be uneven. The problem with the television series of the Saxon Chronicles is that the actor is not anything like the character in the novel, and nor are any of the other characters. My favorite character was that other warrior that Alfred always sends with him that he barely gets along with, but in the television series he is this normal-looking dude, whereas in the novel he was huge and stupid.
