For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

The Republicans are quite obviously the Tories of America, the Lefties are clearly the Whigs.C-Mag wrote:Hey Smitty, we don't consider these Lefties Yanks, they're Torries, just haven't crossed the border yet.

Pah, Stalinist propaganda. Greatest Russian maybe, however...Smitty-48 wrote:Please, don't be silly. Alexander Nevsky, all day.Montegriffo wrote: As in William the Marshal, the worlds greatest knight.
http://www.medievalwarfare.info/marshal.htmThe name William Marshal sounds ordinary enough and could belong to any unremarkable Englishman. The chances are that you do not associate it with anyone of note. Yet William Marshal – or William the Marshal – was one of the greatest men ever to have lived and arguably the greatest ever Englishman.
Although inexplicably omitted from schoolroom history he has a dozen claims to fame. He unhorsed Richard, the future King Richard I, the Lionheart, in battle and spared his life. He loyally served five Plantagenate kings, including Richard his erstwhile enemy, who had the sense to recognise Marshal's qualities.
He defeated over 500 opponents in single combat, knighted two kings, ruled England as Regent, beat a powerful French army on English soil, saved the kingdom of England, and earned the respect of Europe. He was called “The Flower of Chivalry”. Stephen Langton, the Archbishop of Canterbury, described him as the "greatest knight that ever lived". Every king and great nobleman in Europe had an officer called a marshal, but by the time of his death in 1219 the whole of Europe knew William as “The Marshal''.

Too bad the Archbishop of Canterbury couldn't cannonize him as a Saint, divine sanctity ftw, or call me when the 1st Earl of Pembroke comes to sit at the right foot of God himself.Montegriffo wrote:Pah, Stalinist propaganda. William Marshal isn't even the greatest knight in British history, William Wallace, all day, who in Britain now has even heard of William Marshal? How many have seen Braveheart? Nuff said.
The greatest knight nobody in his own land has ever even heard of, trumps a knight who became a Christian Saint? Yeah, no, don't think so, even the 1st Earl of Pembroke himself, would no doubt doff his hat to Saint Alexander.
