Insurgencies work if they have some direction and leadership. But they can fail too without those key elements. The American traditional folks really could end up being treated like Native Americans. A slow crushing of your lifestyle, values and freedoms.

First of all, we all have too big of a digital footprint of our ideas on line. So if its the Xir gov coming after us they can just pull a Mueller on us and raid our home at 4AM, shoot our dogs and take our shit. Game over. Most of us are too old to do fighting in the field even if we have the skills and equipment. However you can be in the insurgency and never pick up a rifle. I imagine folks like Nukedog would be fantastic as internet disinformation and sowing confusion or gathering intel.

It really depends on whether or not Patriot types can find something to coalesce around. To date, other than DJT there hasn't been much. So that's the big challenge for them. Look at the Red-Blue maps and there is a helluva lot of red territory. The US military didn't have enough troops in either Iraq or Afghanistan to control those countries and they are a fraction of the size of the US. Plus Americans have a ton of wealth and tools to work with. Hell there's a retired or amateur machinist in nearly every neighborhood in this damn country.
