Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine
Oh I do believe the deep state is balls deep in dirty shit with Ukraine and the Zelensky puppet government.
However, Putin is no angel or savior, he's a a classic, brutal Russian dictator. If I was married to Putin I would never post anything negative about him. Just yesterday I noted he has reportedly arrested 13000 of his own people, which puts him slightly ahead of Justin Trudeau, who I also spoke out against.
I'd venture to say I've had far more balanced posting on this conflict than many here. And I'm quite comfortable with my positions.

Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine
I sure as Fuck hope so.
But the Democrats are just better at the election game. It's Total War for them, they don't care about rules just winning. They have been jerrymandering like fucking crazy.
And worst of all the GOP senior leadership doesn't want to win. McConnel wants to be at about 50-50 where he can sell votes.

Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine
well, maybe the right could screw this up before then
maybe the right won't pivot away from Detente With Putin in time, and the Democrat's plan will work

Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine
I do think Trump is finished now tho
this is the end of Trumpism
because Trump is the figurehead for the policy of Detente With Putin
and now Putin has started Cold War Two bordering on World War Three
this is a tectonic shift which will bring Trump down too
that's doesn't mean the Republicans will not pivot tho
I would expect the GOP to go into full on Cold Warrior mode now
the GOP will out Hawk the Democrats, they will attack the Democrats now for being "Soft on Russia !"
it's baked into the cake now

Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine
certainly the Administrative State, or Deep State
or more accurately coined by Andrew Bacevich as the Washington National Security Consensus
they were trying to gin the New Cold War up, as you would expect
but the reality is, Putin has handed it to them on a platter at this point

Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine
I don’t know…. Putin has moved on 2 other neighbors with no problems. And is down with the WEF. For him to go rogue like this, without a clear plan, and fail so hard…. And then threaten nuclear war several times in a week?Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 7:59 pmhow so ?SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 7:58 pmIt’s beginning to look incompetent enough to be intentional…
what's the angle ?
This feels like part of The Plan.
Maybe like you mentioned, just to force the neocons into a no-win.
Maybe his real goal was to break the dollar hegemony. Maybe to distract from The Plague for their next move.
It sounds ridiculous, but this looks orchestrated to fail intentionally.

Ukraine is fucking huge
hence why every General in the world is scratching their heads right now
trying to figure out how Putin and his cronies ever thought they could pull this off with so few troops

Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine
like Ukraine has a 200,000 man army
you need three to one minumum to attack that, 600,000
and then Ukraine is full of cities
which requires even more troops, way more
so how could Putin & Co think that 200,000 troops was enough to pull this off ?
it's a million man army mission, at minimum
hence why the Russians are dead in the water here,
going nowhere, by simply lacking boots on the ground,
not by a little bit, by a huge margin, like 800,000 troops short

Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine
bear in mind : the Russians are outnumbered here now
Ukraine is fully mobilized for war
they probably have a million men under arms now
how does a 200,000 man Russian force defeat a force five times its size ?
with heavy weapons ?
that doesn't help you fight in cities, bombarding cities makes them exponentially harder to take
once you wreck the city, that makes it a rabbit warren like Stalingrad for the defenders
so I can't see how the Russians are going to take Kyiv now, they don't have the combat power

Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine
to secure a big city like Kyiv ?
if the opponent is resolved to defend it to the last man ?
you need ten to one advantage at least, to secure such a vast and exponentially complex objective
so if there are just 30,000 Ukrainians defending Kyiv ?
you need 300,000 Russian troops to secure it
if 50,000 Ukrainians are defending it
you need 500,000 Russian troops
this is why in the Gulf War, even with 500,000 troops, Colin Powell was not going to Baghdad
like 13,500 Marines to take Fallujah
Kyiv is 15 times the size of Fallujah
so to take Kyiv, just against poorly armed & trained goat herders ?
you would need 200,000+ Marines, which is more than the entire Marine Corps
it seems to be apparent now
that the Russians are just stuck
stuck right where they are
can't go forward much further, can't go back in the face of the now advancing Ukrainians
not enough troops to take the objective
but can't get Putin to call this disaster off
so they are just sitting in place idling, like sitting ducks
paralyzed by the sheer size and complexity of the task
