Sure, a $600 smartphone seems great ... until someone else gets $60k curtains.
Seriously though, guys ... can’t we let the government take a little more from the evil “merchant” class? You know, those horrible merchants ruining the country? We need a trustworthy, responsible, accountable institution like the government to take more from them. It’s the only way to ensure money is distributed “fairly”.
but seriously, FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS on drapes? excess wealth can be so silly
I'm assuming that they arent putting up your typical curtains in the ambassador to the UN's "apartment," when the previous administration bought them and this one is installing them.
I'm not saying they need to shop at Ikea but $50k seems like a steep price for one material object in a room full of material objects. Does the article include a photo of the drapes? Maybe if I saw them I would change my mind
Kim Jong Un probably has $200k drapes.
But you know ... greedy ass capitalists are hobbling our public officials and forcing them to buy discount drapes worth only tens of thousands. How embarrassing.

I'm assuming they arent going to tell you what makes the drapes special.
Then again, they could just be pissing off money on some French decorator. Hard to say for sure.
