Good point. My counter point is that CEO's, celebrities, sports stars, and politicians do work insane hours, but have enormous sexual appetities. That being said, I work with plenty of poor people and they are incapable of jizzing on a girl's stomach. There are a few girls at my job who also have been blessed with large families. Some people collect pokemon cards. I collect books. These girls collect "daddies." That is basically their second job.

Economics is a bullshit word and a degree where people study how "rational" actors act...ok that's realistic and helpful, how exactly? Economics is a term that somehow someway was separated from politics/political theory circa 1800s and professionalized much later. In end stage "capitalism" economics = polity/sociology/culture/life and is useful in alienating/atomizing/and "individualizing" so called citizen or people into "consumers". Awesome what a great way of being.

If productivity were relevant to pay or hours worked, we'd all be at roughly 30 mins/week by now. - meMartin Hash wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 2:42 pm"The goal of economics is to increase productivity more-n-more so that individuals have to work less-n-less." - me

Just roughly measuring it: our Trade Deficit is about 3/4 $trillion, so we’re consuming at least that much more than we’re producing. More than half the population receives government assistance, so they are obviously consuming more than producing. As a whole, productivity could be much higher.
I’m thinking Star Trek “replicators” level of productivity before 10 hr workweeks are a thing.
