When you used the phrase “sent in a bigger army and overwhelmed them” to me I thought you were trying to say superior numbers of troops.

I agree the guns aspect was less important than resources and logistics.

Regardless “maxim gun” was simply a symbolic example for my exercise.

The initial British incursion was an army of 16,000, when that failed to get the job done, they sent another 25,000, total Zulu warriors in the whole country estimated to be 35,000, but the Zulus did not have the logistics to bring their entire force to bear at any given time, citizen soldiers in effect, they couldn't all be on the battlefield at once.

To wit, even if the Zulus somehow win that battle 15,000 against 4,000 British, whatever Zulus survived that, still have another 37,000 British troops to deal with.

Assuming the British don't just send another 25,000, because by that point the prestige of the Empire was on the line and the British were pretty much committed to keep coming until the Zulus either capitulated or were wiped out,
