I agree that it’s fallen off, but I’m pretty sure that we were referring to the bitter hatred of Dan expressed by a number of posters. “Dan the Cuck” comes to mind.StCapps wrote:No, not really. Hell even Dan agrees that he's run out of ideas for Common Sense, yet y'all seem sure that he's wrong, and it's just as good as it used to be.
Maybe some of you are just in denial, the Lou Reed effect.

Re: Common Sense 316 - The Day of the Dove
Not seeing a lot of Dan hatred, I just see a bunch of people noting how the show isn't as good as it used to be, and noting that Dan hasn't released a really good CS show in years. I see some folks criticizing him for changing his positions, and selling out, but pretty sure that doesn't qualify as "Dan hatred".GrumpyCatFace wrote:I agree that it’s fallen off, but I’m pretty sure that we were referring to the bitter hatred of Dan expressed by a number of posters. “Dan the Cuck” comes to mind.
There is no point to hating Dan because he couldn't keep CS as good as it used to be, it was bound to happen at some point. People should be grateful that it took so long to finally fall off, CS had a good run, and there is no alternate universe where the show went on forever and maintained the high quality it came to be known for, that shit is impossible, even in an alternate universe.
Like I said, name one show, that lasted over a decade, and didn't fall off in terms of quality, at some point during it's run. I bet you can't, so why blame Dan because he failed like everyone else to achieve what is impossible? That's not a fair standard to hold someone to.

If all you want is provocation why not just watch PORNHUB or Redtube?Martin Hash wrote:Dan never did offer solutions. I still enjoy listening to him but the thought-provoking aspect is gone, or I’ve grown out of it. There’s way more provocative stuff on this forum.

One of the dudes who has his face on Mt. Rushmore tried it once, didn't go so well. He was a pretty well known by the general public, considering he was a two-term president who had never lost a Presidential election before that point and had only been out of office for 4 years.Hwen Hoshino wrote:Depends on how big a celeb you are. You sure about that theory of yours? History says that isn't even enough. Seems unlikely to happen any time in foreseeable future.

There was no Internet for most US history.StCapps wrote:One of the dudes who has his face on Mt. Rushmore tried it once, didn't go so well. You sure about that theory of yours? History says that isn't even enough, the only time a third party ever won the Presidency, that was in 1860, Abraham Lincoln is the only man to ever do it, and no one has even come close since. The only third party to ever do it quickly became no longer a third party, and the circumstances were quite different during the only exception to the rule.
Seems unlikely to happen any time in foreseeable future, unless you happen to be a SIFCLF who thinks another civil war is right around the corner that is.

You know what Lincoln shouldn't even count, because the GOP had the second most electoral votes in 1856, so technically not even a third party in 1860. So it's never happened in US history, but now the internet exists, so any celebrity can win a US Presidential election as a third party candidate? Don't think so, typical millennial who thinks the internet changes everything, but it doesn't.Hwen Hoshino wrote:There was no Internet for most US history.StCapps wrote:One of the dudes who has his face on Mt. The internet = third party presidency?
Explain that conclusion you randomly jumped to. Makes no sense.
Third parties don't win US Presidential Elections, they never have, and they won't anytime soon just because "the internet bro".

Not as third party candidates they didn't. Trump ran as a Republican, even he knew that hijacking one of the two major parties, was the path to the presidency, not running as a third party. Ron Paul and Bernie Sanders also tried to do that, because even they knew that was their best chance. Your theory doesn't hold up at all, third parties are not gaining any traction, Ross Perot almost gained some, way back in the day before the internet got big, but then he didn't even win a single state. Ever since the internet, third parties haven't done jack.Hwen Hoshino wrote:Crazy outsiders have been gainning traction for a while. I made it clear in my post.

Not as third party candidate. Third parties did better before the internet, ever since the internet, third parties haven't gained any traction, just the opposite, the trend is moving the other direction. You've got nothing but wishful thinking to back up your theory.Hwen Hoshino wrote:i said that's where it's going.
