This is not about deterrence, they already have enough to deter you from attacking them, several times over, and in 70 years, you've never taken your shot at them, you've had decades to take them out, but you never did, and yet here they are, pursuing the capability to totally annihilate you, why? Like I said, this has already crossed the threshold into crazy train.

I mean, they're not stupid, they know what the stakes are, they know what the ramifications are, they know where this leads, and there's only one reason to do it, and it is not to deter from attacking them, they are doing the opposite of that, they are creating a paradigm wherein a nuclear confrontation with you is pretty much baked into the cake, so, then what?

Well, interesting question, but misanthropic as I am, I just see it as a strategic conundrum, I remain clinically detached, I'm indoctrinated to try to figure out how to fight and win, care or don't care doesn't really enter into it.

To be clear, I don't think you should lose any sleep over it, whatever will be will be, I just like to work the problem as an intellectual exercise, to counterforce or not to counterforce, if counterforce then what? If not counterforce then what?

For a nuclear war junky, this is the most interesting scenario of them all, asymmetrical unstable paradigm, reckless headlong collision course, so frankly, it's exciting, haven't been here since the early sixties, I'm fascinated to find out what happens when the fur starts to fly in this day and age.

Every other nuclear fault line is a symmetrical stalemate, but this puppy here is not, and a reckless line stepping basket case regime like North Korea, has never had strategic nuclear weapons before, this has the potential to be a real doozy, so buckle up, this could be a wild ride.

Uh-oh, now the Air Force is lobbying to deploy CHAMP against the NK missile threat, this is exactly how this shit goes sideways, EMP strike on the NK command and control; so much for Kim Jong Un being able to pull the chicken switch even if he wants to.

All this attempting to not kill anybody, is the very thing which gets millions of people killed, when the EMP hardened dispersed and concealed mobile ICBM's launch on warning as soon as they are cut off from their national command authority.

They're not stupid, their deterrent will be the same as everybody elses, launch is the default position, decapitation simply incites immediate survivable second strike, launching CHAMP at them pushes the pickle switch by default.
