Re: Woodworking thread
The first one doesn’t look as ‘finished’. It’s more rustic. Depends on the look you want for the room.

They are both distressed finish and rustic grade (cheapest) but the first has a stain to bring out the grain and give an appearance of antique oak.SuburbanFarmer wrote: Sun Jul 21, 2019 9:01 am The first one doesn’t look as ‘finished’. It’s more rustic. Depends on the look you want for the room.
I like the colour.
This one is antique honey stain and the first one is antique chocolate.

Do you prefer the natural look of the reddish floor or the strong grain in the stained oak?

I prefer the darker one. I like the more rustic look of it.

I've sent for samples of the antique chocolate. At £38 a square meter it's a lot cheaper than £54 for the darker one.
The cheaper one comes unfinished though so I'll have to spend about £30 on beeswax and spend 2 or 3 days waxing it.
Luckily I only need about 5 or 6 square meters to do the whole truck.

He teaches you what those inside numbers in a speed square are used for (building roofs).

Nice tool. My set square is the corner of a 3/4'' sheet of ply.

Nearly finished the dresser, I need another TV job to fund the expensive oak floor, skirting planks and trim though.

Looks like it belongs. I like the pine, it's appropriate for the building, style of construction is too.
Well Done.
