Oh no, I wouldn't concern troll fat people, I don't care if someone is fat, unless said fat persons were in a rifle platoon with me, at which point, I would call them disgusting fatbodies to their faces, and then PT them mercilessly until they weren't fat anymore.AndrewBennett wrote:Are you going SJW on us Smitty?
The concern trolling phrase is a favorite of fat activists. When someone worries about their health or weight they say it is "concern trolling"

Re: The Mess
Other than feelings how can you decide what is concern trolling? Instead of using this stupid term just explain why they are wrong or lack a legit argument and be done with it. Troll is also a useless word.Smitty-48 wrote:"A concern troll is a person who participates in a debate posing as an actual or potential ally who simply has some concerns they need answered before they will ally themselves with a cause. In reality they are a critic."
This is in effect how it works, whether it's here on a forum, or the main stream media, concern trolling is a thing, and we accurately describe it for what it is. It would include libertarian concern trolling as well as liberal.
Now, if any source comes out and speaks the truth; "I despise Donald Trump and everything he stands for and find his base to be deplorable, and as such will relentlessly criticize anything and everything they do, no matter what that may be, in order to try to whip up any opposition to it I can therein"? That, is not a concern troll.

Well then I don't agree. If everyone on the forum agreed with you, I would adjust to make the points more clear to them, but since it's just you, there's no need to.Hwen Hoshino wrote:Good old me.Smitty-48 wrote:Says who?Hwen Hoshino wrote:Other than feelings how can you decide what is concern trolling? It's called a meme you see, if a meme successfully conveys an idea to the masses, then it is useful, by definition in fact.

Memes are reductive and should be used for entertainment not to make points.Smitty-48 wrote:Well then I don't agree. Well the point of this thread is entertainment, if you're not entertained by it, you're free to move on. I wasn't employing a meme to prove anything, as long as the meme successfully conveys an idea with the context of the thread, it is of utility.Hwen Hoshino wrote:Memes are reductive and should be used for entertainment not to make points.

Memes are reflections of common thoughts. They're culture.Hwen Hoshino wrote:Memes are reductive and should be used for entertainment not to make points.Smitty-48 wrote:Well then I don't agree. I think the point was that as a meme is reductive; it was fallacious, but the fallacy of that assertion is that I was employing the meme to prove an argument, which I was not, to wit, the fallacy is that the meme was a fallacy, when in fact, it was just a meme.

So, what are we arguing here?
Concern trolling is or isn't a thing? Or it is a thing, but also a meme, and shouldn't count?
