What's that? Oddly enough I am dealing with this exact issue with my Dad right now who is dying from liver cancer. We are in hospice and he is dealing with the roads not traveled. Yet, he traveled every road that was right for him at the time that he came upon the crossings. I think the "what ifs" and desire to go back and reimagine one's story is where the greatest hurts lie but they are illusions. The cake is a lie. We do what we can do at the time that we did it. If we knew better, we would have done better.
Sorry to hear about your father Haumana.
Losing a parent can really alter your perspective on life.
My dad died suddenly so I never got the chance to say goodbye but I never had to watch him suffer. I don't know which is worse...

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

You're such an arsehole.
Never speak about my father or how he felt about me.

I regret never having the chance to tell my father just how much he meant to me.
My father was a strict and quite scary man when I was a child but he brought up my sister and I on his own after my mother left and I never lacked any of the important things I needed when I was growing up.
Our relationship grew better as I got older and we became much closer towards the end of his life.
He always accepted me for who I am and was there for me if I needed help or advice.
It is ten years this November since his death and I still miss him like hell.

Stay strong and be sure to let your father know how you feel about him.

Thanks again for the sentiments. My Dad was similar but we did work together for about 20 years. (4th generation contractor) I told him a number of years ago how thankful I was for everything that he has taught me and continues to teach me. It got no response but I know he took it in so that is good enough for me.

I'll be heading back up to see him in a few weeks and be with him until his meat suit succumbs to his disease. I am fortunate enough that I am able to do that much for him.

Don't worry about it Martin. I'm fully aware of how much of an arsehole Clubby is and his willingness to try and score cheap points in a matter like this just reinforces what a complete dick he is.

Shit, fuck. Why you gotta do that?

Picture and words hit me about my own life.

My father smokes 4 packs a Marlboro reds a day. He's getting older, I talk to him every day knowing that one day, he won't be here. Not ready, man.

I'm sorry for what you're going through.

They hit me too.

Thanks. It is Life. It is weird watching him set things up for Mom after his exit from the party. Drawing up plans for a new hot tub room that he will never see built. Weird shit like that. He just paid for his cremation arrangements yesterday. But to counter that he bought my nephew a new car for his 21st birthday last weekend.
