If what constitutes "being an asshole" is adequately defined. If it isn't and Kath or Hash are just deciding what being an asshole is, on personal whim, without telling anyone about their criteria for determining that before they censor folks or threaten to do so, then that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, now does it?Montegriffo wrote:How about...
Don't be an asshole over and over again.
Is that an acceptable rule?
If You Are Going To Censor Folks, Make A Rule Against It First. No Selective Enforcement.

Yes. That's humanity's first and best rule, and easiest to understand.Montegriffo wrote:How about...

Now, how do you propose to enforce it?
Do you need a moderator to wipe your ads on that?

It's a mutual respect thing. For instance Dan politely asked us to take it easy on newbies and we did. That's all it takes.Fife wrote:Yes. That's humanity's first and best rule, and easiest to understand.Montegriffo wrote:How about...

I'd also like to say, just because you have moderator power using just because you are pissed at someone without warning is equally in bad taste.

I'd like to see polite requests to not be an asshole respected. That method was tried in the first two Olympic threads but failed to get any results.Fife wrote:Yes. That's humanity's first and best rule, and easiest to understand.Montegriffo wrote:How about...

Self moderation of the forum only works when posters respond to peer pressure.
I would have no problem with posts being moved to an appropriate thread when they are posted in the wrong one deliberately just to derail and spoil others enjoyment of a topic.

Patience is a virtue montegriffo, paranoia, on the other hand, not so much. Your request would have been respected eventually, but the lack of patience lead to threats of censorship that kicked off this whole forum war. You don't threaten censorship to get your way, especially when it comes to hockey talk, it backfires, big time, that's the moral of the story.
monte just refuses to get the moral of the story, and assumes I am lying about why I conducted myself the way that I have. Same with Kath, they'd prefer to believe I had more nefarious motives, no matter how many times I correct them. They want to hold onto the delusion that they didn't overreact and their paranoia was justified instead.
That's what actually happened, for those who missed it.

Huh, I thought the moral of the story was don't be an asshole or your posts might be deleted.

Then fuck off with the censorship on a forum where there is no rules against posting what you want, when you want, where you want.Martin Hash wrote:RULE #1: Work harder not slower. Wait, wait; work faster, not harder. No, no, hell, I can't do rules.
