I grew up in Corso Italia, I was a Giambrone, a Mangiacake, but one which was accepted by the Paisans as being ok, still not one of them, still a Cake, but not a bad one; Giambrone.

It can mean "fool" or it can mean "dude", depending on whether they like you or not.

Americans simply bastardized the Eye-Talian "Giambrone" (Jam-Broh-Nay) into "Jabroni".

But not recently, this was over a hundred years ago, the Rock did not invent the term.

I would in fact submit; the way the kids these days use the term "bro", that's actually Eye-Talian slang, I would say that comes from Jam-Broh-Nay, not "Brother", because that's how the Paisans used it, "Bro" was the short form of Jam-Broh-Nay.

I was being called "Bro" long before it ever became a pop culture thing, like back in the 70's, and only by the Eye-Talians, Cakes never used that term, and they meant Jam-Broh-Nay, that's what Bro is in Paisanese, and the way it is used now, same inflection, same accent, is the Eye-Talian Way, Corso Italia.

Cool history lesson, bro...

Fuck urban dictionary.

From the streets.

I was a cake... so didn't hang with the ginos...

Eventually we formed a hybrid gang... with a bit of representation from all sides.
Cake, gino and Jamaican. But our gino didn't talk gino, and our Jamaican didn't talk patois either... everyone spoke cake.

"Gino", short form of Giovanni, meaning the "The Tribe of John", is the Eye-Talian slang for "Noble", from the Greek "Eugenios".

The Eye-Talian noble names had "gino" at the end, it's like "von" in German, "from the House of"

Except for the Irish lads who spoke . . . . paddy cake.

"Gino" is like when you're all dressed up like a nobleman, fancy clothes, going out dancing, like Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, could be a compliment, if you're rockin it well, or could mean "Fop" is you're not pulling it off.

Notes;

"Che cazzo fai?" = literal translation "What's up with your dick?" = slang "What the fuck is up with you?"

"Fanook" = "Finocchio" literal translation "Fennel" = slang "Faggot"
