These sexting cases are ridiculous. If a grown ass man is sending dick pics to a child, arrest him. But if two minors are sexting each other, the cops should not be interfering. Its stupid to send nude pics, but that is a matter for the parents, not the law. Then these pervy cops are looking at the pics, and charging children with sex offenses. This makes the problem so much worse. Everyone does stupid shit in high school and now because they sent a dirty picture to another high schooler, they carry the scarlet letter for life. These cops should get charged with kiddie porn for interfering in this stuff.

Granted, the guy in the article did some other sex crimes which is fucked, but charging a minor for sending pics to another minor is grotesque.

Seems like an area that could use some legislative reform. Cops are enforcing the law as written.

There are departments with sense enough to know this is different. I've listened to stories about them realizing the situation, and figuring out how to go forward without treating all the kids in a school like pedophiles. It's not an impossible task.
