Arresting illegal alien farm workers, and hopefully their employers, isn't excatly comparable to a Maoist plan of turning your country from an agricultural into an industrial society. You're sort of already there...

I'm just going to go out on a limb and assume that not every farmer and their employees are illegals smuggled into the US.
I did a quick lookup - about 75% of farm workers. Farmers and migrant labor
are not the same thing. Migrant laborers are farmhands - they work for the farmer.
No, looks like 53%, not 75%. That's still ridiculously high, of course.
Fame is not flattery. Respect is not agreement.

It ranged. I picked a number that was cited by multiple .gov sites, all somewhere in the low to mid 70s. Either way very high. There's no doubt that the sudden deportation of farmworkers could cause a serious food crisis, especially in the middle of harvest. We need to fix the illegal immigration problem but that is a Very Bad Idea. I stand by my belief that you don't mess with the food or water supply without strong advance planning and monitoring.

Keep people from illegally immigrating in and remove the more recent arrivals, yes. Those who were allowed to come here with a wink and a nod from the overlords, they're a different story. We let them in and did nothing about it for so many years (nod to Fife about the business-government collusion) that it would be immoral to remove the ones who've been here so long that they're de facto americans.
It's immoral to shaft over the American workers twice with the same illegal. Once by letting them in and once more by legalizing them.

There is no perfect solution. We can't go back in time and change things, and we shouldn't destroy peoples' lives when we basically invited them to stay here. Those who have been allowed to remain here for years - long enough to establish American families - should have a path to citizenship, and those who have been here illegally for a relatively short period should be repatriated to their home countries.

It's ok, millions of legal US citizens are just waiting for a chance to get their farm labourer jobs back.
Monty finally says something true. Too bad he's too disconnected from real life to know it.

Motherfucker cooks food for rich people touring the castles of England, and thinks he has his finger on the pulse of the common man.
