I thought it was a redo of Sleeping Beauty and I enjoyed for that fairy tale story. There are ways to formulate a story and there are awful ways to tell a story. The one thing about using the same archetypes and old folktales and myths etc. is that they got it right. So if you can't make masterpieces at least do good pastiches. Basically make it Hellenistic if you cannot make it Hellenic.
