Well, I'm hardly the arbiter of all that is British. Yet it seems there are some timeless British traits, right? Things you're known for throughout the world? Your Monarchy. The Magna Carta. Sherlock Holmes/Victorian England. Stiff upper lip. Sun never sets on the empire. Tea time. Cricket. Fox hunts Etc, etc.
Things not generally known for being British: Eating halal, praying toward Mecca, burkas, celebrating Ramadan, etc, etc.

You're right, Britain is a nationality - but it's also a culture. Or at least it was. Apparently these days it's only a passport.
