You had more faith in "the office" than I did. What? Weren't you alive during Blowjobgate?GrumpyCatFace wrote:I disagree. He has been undermining the legitimacy of the office since day 1. That has serious effects, in a large society like this.Martin Hash wrote:Meh.
The most egregious thing Trump has actually done is launch missiles into Syria, and that turned out to be nothing.

Is it still in charge of the military?

I had near-zero faith in the office. But I'm not the 100-200 million people that operate based on faith in the government. I'm not one of the masses that requires a pacifier to feel at peace, and I'm not one of the billions outside the US that have depended on our stability for decades.Martin Hash wrote:You had more faith in "the office" than I did. These things have serious effects, and we are seeing them already in the streets. If you're confused about why our society suddenly seems to be seizing up, this is a big part of it.
When we're done with this toddler-tantrum, we are going to see a very different world than we grew up in (even moreso than the change since 9/11)

Leftist, the media, and statist are throwing tantrums, and the rest of us are ignoring them.
We're ignoring that asshole in the Whitehouse as well.
Kinda hoping you all just wipe each other out and leave the rest of us in peace, actually.

No street violence for me, I have plenty to handle at home. But the effects on the economy and our national mentality will hit me no matter what. And you, and everyone else.DBTrek wrote:Society isn't seizing up.GrumpyCatFace wrote: These things have serious effects, and we are seeing them already in the streets. I'm afraid the facebook whining, media bleating, and nonstop "LOOK AT THESE TWEETS OMG OM GOMG" headlines has actually had a very limited effect on me, personally. Maybe it increased my average mouse-scroll from 1 cm to 3 cm, which adds up over time. But in reality, all the keyboard rage in the world adds up to exactly nothing. And now that folks have had almost seven months to non-stop rage on their keyboards, all day, every day, we see exactly how futile it is.
Newsflash to Americans - nobody gives a fuck what you're mad about, or what you think about politics.
Amount of time I've spent agonizing over livid people on the internet with uninformed opinions - zero seconds.

That's not what I'm talking about. And we have no national crisis happening at the moment.DBTrek wrote:I'm afraid the facebook whining, media bleating, and nonstop "LOOK AT THESE TWEETS OMG OM GOMG" headlines has actually had a very limited effect on me, personally. What happens when something serious happens? Economy finally rolls off the QE cliff, or another major terrorist attack? How do you think the nation responds when it's already undermined by this nonsense? This is one of those factors that makes a crisis into a true disaster.
