I'm serious. You're adding complexity that doesn't have to be there. Think about it; all those socialist programs you want, hell those are things I don't care about, but those things are impossible as long as the left operates like this.

California just shut down their own single payer healthcare bill. Democrats pulled it. When the rubber meets the road you can't have your programs as long as you encourage third world demographics to supplant the white conservative vote.

We don't have to. The statue's original intent wasn't to encourage us to import the world's shittiest people. It was to be the beacon of the city on the hill. You seem to forget over half of all immigrants are on welfare. The lions share of taxes come from Americans and not successful immigrants. Why anyway are they entitled to come here and usurp our tax base? That may be something you believe. I do not. But that is not something justified by a plaque on a statue. This is a form of faith the left practices and even when they follow it to its inevitable conclusion all those programs they believe in will go away when the rubber meets the road. It's not sustainable.

I don't have particularly strong opinions regarding any particular immigration policy, much less one that claims it is justified by a poem on a plaque.

However, I think that the American dream of living in a society where you can be impoverished or hold unpopular ideas and not be condemned to a life of relentless ignominy is a powerful one for both citizens and potential immigrants, and I don't think we should abandon it.
