I think I see now, what you're getting at.

Recommend us some good Korean (or any) films in this genre.

I watched "The Admiral" a bit ago with subtitles. It's about the fight of Yi Sun-shin against Japanese invaders of Korea.

Troy could have been so much more...
Gladiator and Braveheart are great, and I really enjoyed Kingdom of Heaven. A lot of those historical movies were big decades ago, but the public is mainlining those stupid superhero movies right now, and the studios are basically the dealers happy to supply them with a fix. After watching all those piece of shit avenger movies though, I am convinced they do more damage to your brain than huffing jenkem.

I think you mean that short time when you were old enough to see them in cinema but not old enough to realize they were crap. I remember that period as well. Only other movies for me.

Most "historical" Epics are crap. Some are fine if you just disregard the historical pretensions and just see them as fantasy.

Take Braveheart for example. There is so much wrong with it. The cringe factor is unbearable.

That makes it a crap historical movie, does not take away the craft that went into it.

That is my point. To me a crap historical movie lost it's appeal once I realized how much crap it was.
