You are still a fucking catapult
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Changing the goalposts is a dumb way to attempt to make a point. Try harder catapult.catapult wrote: is useless for the purpose that it was built for today.

He said it was useless today.
You showed people using them today.
He said show a winner using it.
Losers using useless tech is not refutation of the claim that they are useless today, aka, they won't win.
It's okay. I dig old stuff too. I just don't advocate that a nineteenth century mill is superior to a nuclear plant.

He said useless for the purpose it was built for today. I showed one being used to throw projectiles at the enemy today. That makes it still useful for the purpose it was built for.

No, it's useful if it can throw explosives at the enemy. By your argument all weapons are useless unless they are hydrogen bombs.
If you were maimed by a grenade thrown over a building by a trebuchet would you still call it useless?

I would have shot it down 300 meters out.

But there is something to the idea that advanced tech isn't always the deciding factor.

Infantry never gave up on bayonets did they? If a knife is still useful in modern war then it is crass to say a trebuchet throwing explosives long distances isn't.
