Capps - you are betting a whole lot on the "over-promise/under-deliver" strategy that you assume Trump is playing.
If this truly is his strategy, nobody will take him seriously about anything he says.

Yet they have and continue to give, a ton of attention to his outrageous opening offers, despite repeated proof that this is what he is doing, and him even admitting as much in The Art of the Deal. It's been working for him for decades. He's moderated on pretty much every outrageous opening offer he's made while campaigning, and he's not going to stop doing that because it is continuing to work despite his extensive track record of using this tactic throughout his career to achieve to greater negotiation leverage.Kath wrote:Capps - you are betting a whole lot on the "over-promise/under-deliver" strategy that you assume Trump is playing.

Trump is a good salesman, and always has been, people aren't just waking up to this now, this has been baked into the cake forever and his sales pitches still often work regardless of the fact the people know he's making a sales pitch. Good salesmen know how to get around that hitch, if Trump didn't know how to do that and at quite a high level, then he wouldn't be President-Elect and he wouldn't be a multi-billionaire, real-estate mogul, or reality tv star, either. You underestimate Donald Trump's persuasiveness.

For me it's this... you want to try to skirt the taxes and fees that you obtain working in the US, you will pay a price equal or greater for working outside of the US. A Chinese company should not be penalized as heavily, if it's a pure Chinese company, but a US company working in China... fuck that noise.

As I've stated before: require businesses to distribute profits every year then tax the recipients - at high progressive rates.
Not a bad idea at all....but....makes it difficult for business to plan for long term projects...or to build savings to acquire expensive assets....perhaps allow them to deposit money into an account that can't be used for salaries or bonuses?

Business doesn't need to stockpile cash, that's what banks are for. And if the venture is so risky that banks won't loan then that's what investors are for. There is NO REASON for businesses to hold money except to cheat it out of its minority shareholders & avoid taxation through legal maneuvering.Zlaxer wrote:Martin Hash wrote:Taxing business is never a good idea but taxing people is.

I forgot. Your president got impeached. You get your first woman president, and surprise surprise, she's just as corrupt as anyone else. Then along comes Donald to twist the spear in your lefty sacred cow by defeating her majesty. That's why Paulo's so upset.Paulo wrote:Kath wrote:Capps - you are betting a whole lot on the "over-promise/under-deliver" strategy that you assume Trump is playing.

Next election's in 2018, if not sooner. Here's hoping for MBGA.
