The U.S. Air Force is preparing for nuclear armed B-52 bombers to be put back on 24-hour alert for the first time in 25 years as tensions rise between North Korea and President Donald Trump.

I was curious as well. Then, I decided that I don't even want to know.

Feeling jaded? Can’t imagine why... oh, and here’s an updated mantra to replace what they said in the 60’s:

“Turn off, tune out, and get back to work”

B-52's back to failsafe, eh? Better pull some more airframes out of AMARG and accelerate that re-engining program, because the JT3D's are going to start breaking down under that sort of sustained workload.

I wonder what they are loading them with, the B-52 is not a good penetrator anymore, so prolly AGM-86 ALCM's, can't see them trying to go downtown with the B61's in a BUFF these days.

AGM-86 ALCM, that's a destabilizer, the Rooskies are not going to take kindly to that. I'm thinking the response will be Tu-95 with Kh-102, but maybe even Iskander-N to Kaliningrad.

Cold War 2.0 continues to escalate back towards the brink, woot-woot!

Nah, Cold War 2.0 is not SIF, lived happily under the shadow of that brink for 45 years, no biggie, nuclear deterrence it not assurance, but it's still a mighty deterrent, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, but Lockmart shareholders do indeed approve.

Cold War is the best of all worlds, force that gives you meaning, with all the spinoffs, nary a shot fired short of misapprehension, miscalculation or mistake, same as it ever was.

If anything, I would prefer things to be wound right up the brink, better and safer to have things clear and present at all times, with no delusions of grandeur; stay frosty, they don't call it the Balance of Terror for nothing; no existential terror, no balance.
