Contempt of court my ass, if his politics were politically correct, it wouldn't have been contempt of court. The only reason they pretended it was is because he has opinions they don't like.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 2:58 amCONTEMPT OF COURT IS NOT A FREE SPEECH ISSUEStCapps wrote: ↑Sat Jul 13, 2019 7:57 pmHe'd have even less support if y'all didn't make him a free speech martyr. Jailing him for free speech is not causing his message to be heard by less people, it's causing the Streisand effect. If you don't think Tommy Robinson is more popular now than before they arrested him, you aren't paying attention.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Sat Jul 13, 2019 7:45 pm
You wish.
Robinson is nowhere near as popular here as you think he is.
Most of his support comes from right wing nut jobs in the US and Canada.
There were a few of his supporters harassing journalists on the day of his sentencing and nothing much since he resumed his stay at HM's pleasure.
You miss the point, the point is, you made him more popular by jailing him on that bullshit. If you claim he isn't bigger than he ever was before they arrested him, you aren't paying attention.

He's not more popular because he is in jail again.
He is just exposed for the violent, fraudulent, racist bigot that he is.
His loony right supporters may think he's a hero but everyone else knows the truth.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

He's more popular. The growth may be mostly on the right, but that is growth nonetheless. You don't know the truth, you are blinded by bias.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 4:29 amHe's not more popular because he is in jail again.

But the reason he was in court in the first place is a free speech issueMontegriffo wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 2:58 amCONTEMPT OF COURT IS NOT A FREE SPEECH ISSUEStCapps wrote: ↑Sat Jul 13, 2019 7:57 pmHe'd have even less support if y'all didn't make him a free speech martyr. Haven't you ever stopped to think that the contempt charge was used as a device to make sure they "got him?" Kinda like how the Mueller turned from "collusion" to "obstruction of justice" or how Al Capone was put away for tax evasion.
Lastly, simply because Robinson points out ugly truths or you disagree with his positions doesn't mean he's a bigot
No man's life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session

No, it isn't.California wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 8:52 amBut the reason he was in court in the first place is a free speech issue
He was in court for disrupting a trial to the point where the judge said he would have to close the trial down if Yaxley Lennon continued to intimidate witnesses and the accused men.
He was also guilty of broadcasting the men's guilt before the court had ruled.
He also broke the temporary reporting restrictions which had been brought in because the men were being tried in 3 groups and the broadcasting of the jury's decision in the first case might prejudice the following jury's decision and so on.
The decision was taken to restrict reporting until all three trials had concluded (about 3 weeks in total IIRC).
