If Americans were actually vehemently opposed to the NSA collecting metadata, and really in favour of asuming greater risk of attack to do so, Ron Wyden would have been the President of the United States along time ago, but notice that he isn't?
The electorate are actually Uber Security Hawks, folks, plain to see.

Hell if American electorate were vehemently against that shit than Ron Paul would be President of the United States along time ago. Yet they just elected Donald Trump so clearly that wasn't their big hangup.Smitty-48 wrote:If Americans were actually vehemently opposed to the NSA collecting metadata, and really in favour of asuming greater risk of attack to do so, Ron Wyden would have been the President of the United States along time ago, but notice that he isn't?

Yeah, but what's he really trying to say? I mean, what's the nuance?Congress should pass a law re-establishing collection of all metadata, and combining it with publicly available financial and lifestyle information into a comprehensive, searchable database. Legal and bureaucratic impediments to surveillance should be removed. That includes Presidential Policy Directive-28, which bestows privacy rights on foreigners and imposes burdensome requirements to justify data collection.

Trump's base and associated swing voters surely want the Big Gov curtailed in the areas of taxation and regulation, but Homeland Security Dove? Not a chance, Homeland Security Hawk; feature, not a bug.StCapps wrote:Hell if American electorate were vehemently against that shit than Ron Paul would be President of the United States along time ago. Being tough on terrorism scores you big points with the American electorate, especially in a post 9/11 world, who knew?Smitty-48 wrote:Trump's base and associated swing voters surely want the Big Gov curtailed in the areas of taxation and regulation, but Homeland Security Dove? Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
Likely in many occasions Trump tried to go with what he said: to pick the best one's available. Mattis and Kelly are examples, but actually also the one's Trump asked, but who declined, are too. Above all, that one New York mayor Giuliani and one fat guy with a bridge-problem is missing from the top seats of the administration tells it too.Smitty-48 wrote:Obviously, if Trump wanted a cabinet of sycophants, he would have picked sycophants, like Obama did, the fact that Trump has not picked sycophants; feature, not a bug.
Yet what to see is just how well Trump and his administration work together.
And there are many examples of Presidents that simply don't want to hear bad news or things that go opposite to their great ideas.
Somehow I get the feeling, just looking at Trumps campaign and Trump's post-election manners, is that he surely isn't going to be the easiest Presidents to work with.

I think Trump is likely pretty adaptable to be honest, he's a business guy, they listen, they question, they give you your shot, if you impress them, they hand you the ball, Trump ain't no ideologue, he's been nothing but realpolitik the whole way.
