Like I say, the beauty of those Eastory videos is that they illustrate what I was trying to view in my minds eye.

Like I you watch all of them, the grand sweep of the Eastern Front, you see how insignificant "Kusrk" was.

It's a speed bump, it's not actually one of the big battles.

The Nazis vastly exaggerated it because they did not want to public to know how bad the situation actually was.

They were losing, the public knew that, but they wanted to cover up how badly they were losing in fact.

I like that video in particular because it really demonstrates the method of warfare at the time with encirclements and cavalry. Kind of like when I found out how Dan Carlin's grandma was B'nai B'rith from her obituary. It really clarifies things. I doubt ant kind of warfare like that has happened since. The Osfront was a one time thing and man what a pity. We should redo it just for lulz

The "big battle" is right at the beginning.

The breakout of the Germans catching Stalin off guard.

The Soviets are stalling for time, building up to invade Germany from the East.

Hitler preempts them and then encirclement after encirclement ensues.

Hundreds of thousands of Soviets encircled at a time.

General Winter stops them at the gates of Moscow; der krieg ist verloren.

Once the Soviets recover their footing, the wave comes rolling back the other way and nothing can stop it.

The smartest fascist in the room, was Franco.

Hitler practically begs him to join the Axis.

Franco declines.

Franco sends some troops to the East, but declines to fight the Anglo-Americans.

Net result is that Spain becomes an American ally and Franco dies in his sleep in 1975.

The Phalange was a Roman Catholic Monarchist Fascist fusion.

Point being tho, my father traveled to Spain in the 1960's, and he confirmed that it was fascist.

On the other hand it was a pretty mild and moderated brand, it wasn't Nazi Germany, not at all.

The Phalangists were practical.

It's not a Post Scarcity Utopia, it's a Roman Catholic Monarchy without a democratic overthrow option for the Left.

Bear in mind that most of the crying and blubbering about Franco comes from the socialist left.

The alternative to Franco was a Stalinist regime.

Considering what Stalin, Beria and the NKVD were capable of, the Phalange was arguably self defence.

Again, the Phalange was not the Nazis, it was certainly fascist, but the point was not mass extermination.

Franco could see that the Nazis were so extreme that they would inevitably blow themselves up.

Thus why he declined to formally ally himself with them and rather kept Spain out of the war.

Hitler was enraged of course, cursing Franco up and down.

Franco simply knew that fighting the British, French and Americans, while invading the USSR, was suicidal.
