Post Modernism, Marxism, is not a new attraction. It finds acceptance among those whose expectations of their success in life collide with reality. In fact, from a purely practical, self-interested perspective, Marxists, who's expectations were set by living with their Boomer parents, and are now living with 3 roommates who share a cellphone plan before heading off to their part-time job as baristas, would see their material lives improved under Marxist tenets. American Capitalism, where "2nd Place is the first loser," has created WAY too many losers for a democracy to handle.
There is wisdom here.

What’s missing from the analysis is this - capitalism’s losers are still faring better than the bulk of people in Africa, the Middle East, and SE Asia.

When your losers still live better than half of the planet, it’s hard to crucify your system.

There are some portions of those regions doing QUITE well. I don’t think you’d do well in a debate, blanketing entire continents with your views.

The fact that you don’t think I’d do well is almost as good as being handed a certificate of guaranteed success.
;)

You may not think humans can handle processing general statements applied in the service of making a larger point, but it’s not a universal cognitive limitation. In fact, most human communication involves speaking in generalities because parsing each sentence for technical accuracy is inefficient.

You know how we INTPs roll. Logic is all we got.

And in that vein I’d mention that the International Poverty Line is drawn at $1.90 per day. The losers of American capitalism are global winners. The only thing allowing such ridiculous vilification of our system are irrational and completely unmoored feelings. The data doesn’t lie.

I'm in awe of your obtuseness on this matter. Those Millennial Whole Foods shopping, bike-riding part-time baristas don't care how much better off they are than people in India. When they lived at home, their parents covered healthcare, lodging, and college tuition. They used to drive their dad's Mercedes and now all they have is this stupid 1-speed bicycle.

Really that's the standard you cool with? And you simply will not address the notion that a society should not be primarily organized economically. Other things matter more. But not in a "capitalist" merchant shop keepers worldview.

You’re right. I never realized how horrible my existence was or how oppressive the American way of life is until I read about it on my iPhone in the middle of the day while wearing Emoji Movie pajama pants.

Burn it down.
This tyranny must end.

We need a government that rules for the people... and by rules I mean caters to our whims and punishes our enemies, foreign and domestic.

It’s the standard regardless of my coolness. I’m long past the age where I suffer from delusions of the world caring what random human #6,527,295,733 is “cool” with.

If other things matter so much more, why don’t you focus on them instead of hand-wringing over the most successful economic system 10,000 years of human experimentation has produced? Why don’t you build instead of tearing down?
