It looks like it's mostly going to hit the west coast, so most of the people I care about are just going to get normal storm issues (hopefully). If that thing went straight up the eastern coastline, my father's house would be gone by Monday. My mother and stepfather are riding it out at home, but they live inland in one of the highest points in the state. Not too many minorities there either, so looting and robbing shouldn't be a problem.

Nah, just that it's likely to land well to the west of Miami and likely will go up the middle of the state. So by the time it hits anything populated, it will be much weaker than Cat 4 or 5 and there obviously won't be a storm surge (except maybe Okeechobee again).

I have a feeling it will still be pretty strong and push deep into the eastern seaboard, though. They are saying we are going to get a full tropical depression up here in the mountains by Monday or Tuesday.

Oh good. Looks like Rick Scott reversed the evacuation order. Everyone can start heading home now! #IrmaHoax

Hopefully there are no trees near your place.

I live in a semi-urban pocket surrounded by national forests.

As long as they're not near your house or blocking the roads. This is going to mess your fall up, though, if the leaves are already turning.

Not yet. I think in about two weeks. It changes with altitude, though.

Harvey is the baby, it just stuck around and cried longer, is all. Irma is the size of Texas.

Harvey cried a river.

Irma is now probably going to make landfall as a Cat 5 hurricane, only one of four such hurricanes in US history, if that is indeed the case. The Florida Keys are going to get fucked up real bad. Almost the entire Florida coastline is going to eat some level of storm surge, for example, as of right now, Naples is facing a projected 8-12 foot surge, Miami is projected to eat 5-10 foot surge, Tampa is projected to get a 3-5 foot surge.

By the time this thing swallows up the entire state, it still might be a Cat 3 hurricane. It looks like the eye is not going to hit Miami directly, which is nice, but that's about the only positive I'm hearing at this point.
