Then you've never had to be forced to the picket line because the union told you to... it happens, more than it should, and always at the wrong time.

Really depends on state law. Here in PA, techers without a contract or 1 year left can strike but only for 2 weeks in the beginning than for 1 month have to go back to work. That is their best time to negotiate, they have as much leverage as they are going to get. If teachers strike because of COVID. No one is going to have any sympathy for them.
