Got my first car, 2007 Mazda 3 in 2009, for 13k. Treated it like shit, never once took it in for maintenance. Go about 15k miles between oil changes. Shocks and struts are still factory and are pretty much non-existent at this point. Still runs like a champ. Oldest is using it for his driver's test on Monday.MilSpecs wrote:I used to be poor but I'm not now. Older got an Audi. Younger got a serviceable $5000 Hyundai. Yes, well you've already proven yourself to be intellectually lazy, and I guess you ain't much for making the effort when it comes to finding deals on cars neither.
Find a car from the seventies that can match that, and be affordable for a private in the army in the seventies.
You can't.

Re: Unite the Right
Cars were literally junk back in the 70's, I mean ca'mon, the fancy cars back in the 70s were garbage compared to the average car now.
A 1975 Ferrari Dino 308 GT4? That's like a lawnmower now, and it would be perpetually in the shop anyways.
That would have probably cost you $20,000 in 1975, so almost a $100,000 in 2017, and $100,000 now buys you exponentially more, and it wouldn't be in the shop much at all in comparison, and it would last longer even if you drove the shit out if it.
Automotive technology now is beyond anything we even dreamed of in the 70's, we had no concept really, it's a totally different paradigm, literally science fiction by 1970s standards.

It's not so much about the looks, it's just the poor man's supercar, millioniares performance at a middle class price. Also afforfable and reliable enough to run as a daily driver, while being race ready for the track at the same time. Basically Japan's answer to the Corvette.heydaralon wrote:Just image searched it. I drive a 2002 accord so you got a way better car than me. Not that I'm complaining, I have no problem at all with my car. The repairs have been minimal, and it gets great gas mileage. The paint job looks like Fallujah though, fairly beaten up.Smitty-48 wrote:It's not so much about the looks, it's just the poor man's supercar, millioniares performance at a middle class price. Re: Unite the Right
Nicer is all subjective, my wifes Mercedes cost twice as much, and she thinks it's nicer than the Nissan, which, sheer comfort wise, probably so, but I just wanted to taste the supercar spectrum of performance, you only live once.heydaralon wrote:I drive a 2002 accord so you got a way better car than me.
