Here's the thing, they don't believe in free refills.
Just pad the bill with a couple of extra drink charges and give it to the server.

Pay workers a decent min wage you tight fuckers. Tips are to show thanks for exceptional service they are not wages. If you want to be seen as honest add 20 percent to the price of the food so we know what the real cost is.
Same with croupiers. It's not even legal to tip in casinos here because of the possibility of corruption and crooked dealing.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Negative.
You know that tips are how we pay for service in America and yet you try to lean on alleged ignorance of it to walk out without paying servers. It's stealing, man. Fucking dishonest Euros.

My wife has often times made far more money than me as a bartender. Her wage is below minimum wage. Our servers are payed quite well over here.Montegriffo wrote:Pay workers a decent min wage you tight fuckers. Tips are to show thanks for exceptional service they are not wages. So your catering staff only get paid when the restaurant is busy? How do you get anyone to work the quiet shifts.Speaker to Animals wrote:Montegriffo wrote:Pay workers a decent min wage you tight fuckers. It's a shit system
You love all your rights over there unless it's worker's rights.
Once you give workers rights it's just communism....
Bet you make them answer emails after work for no money too.

We incentivize good service. We don't reward bad service. Since she has a great work ethic she doesn't need your tip because she serves more than the next two bartenders put together in half the time.Montegriffo wrote:So does she need my tip or not?TheReal_ND wrote:My wife has often times made far more money than me as a bartender. I agree it's a shit system but not because servers don't make enough from tips. Often times it's a racket, really. The money should come out of the check. But until most restaurants switch, and the law changes about how they are paid, this is how it is. When you walk out of there without paying any meaningful tip, you are literally stealing from somebody. It would be like somebody hiring you to do some yardwork and then refusing to pay for it.

Which is why I would pay it but don't assume all Europeans understand. To most of us tips are what you give for good service.Speaker to Animals wrote:Montegriffo wrote:So your catering staff only get paid when the restaurant is busy? Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
That's literally what it is. Most normal White Americans work with 15% and adjust from there based on service. I've never left less than 5 or 10% but I've never had such terrible service that would warrant less.To most of us tips are what you give for good service.
Unless there is a tip jar for just some cashier or something. Fuck that.
