I do represent the average. Most people don't realize this due to the what's it called? "Lake woebegone effect," but most of you are average too. The world is made for average people. You calling me average, isn't an insult. I own it, instead of falsely believing, like you and many others, that "oh no, I'm at least well to the right of the bell curve." Got any proof of that? No? Ok, until further proof is provided, just going to go with "average." Or in the case of DBtrek, "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence" so you're going to have to provide *a lot* of evidence for that one. He proves he's a myopic dullard on the daily.
I thought we were all unique and special.
As much as sand is unique and special, as much as ants are unique and special. Most of us are an ordinary kind of special. Let me ask you this, you think an average person could pass the bar? The one that you took?
I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body but after that can do no more.
I shall show you whom to fear. Be afraid of the one who after killing has the power to cast into Gehenna; yes, I tell you, be afraid of that one.
Are not five sparrows sold for two small coins? Yet not one of them has escaped the notice of God.
Even the hairs of your head have all been counted. Do not be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows.

That was always one of my favorites. Good verse.

Does anything encapsulate millennials as well as Jedi’s call to “Embrace your averageness”?

I really, really doubt there is any value in a who's worse Republican or Democrat pissing contest.

Almost everyone on this forum won't defend either party when push comes to shove.

But most everyone on the forum has one of those two parties they can relate to slightly more than the other...

Those who favor free markets, less welfare state and less gun control have tended towards Republicans...

Those who support welfare and environmental policies in balance with liberal markets and were less squeamish about "reasonable" gun control have tended towards Democrats...

Both of those groups of people tend to feel betrayed by the mainstream parties, but more irritated by the other party...

So what's to gain from this debate?

Me mostly know who's who on the spectrum of left to right and libertarian to authoritarian from our little quizzes.

And you believe your self to be what, above average? I mean, who here believes themselves to be average or below average?

Political ideology is a decent indicator.

People who believe in a meritocracy generally believe themselves above average - which explains their preference for a system that plays to their advantage.

People that eschew meritocracy generally believe that they can’t compete well (aka they’re average or below), and therefore prefer systems based on demographics, tenure, length of service, amorphous concepts of what’s “fair” etc. - you know, systems where being born and identifying problems/victims is sufficient for success and sometimes victory.

Ability to calculate trajectory of a missile? clueless
