Did the Mongols wreck China? The Yuan dynasty did not last long...Speaker to Animals wrote:Hwen Hoshino wrote:Wrecking does not mean they can just come and take over.Speaker to Animals wrote:
Look at the impact one of those fusion EMPs have on CONUS. 1960s tech can reduce us to the 19th century.
It takes considerably less technology to wreck a complex civilization than it takes to build a complex civilization. Therein lies your problem.
Usually, that's exactly what it meant in history.
How the fuck would they take over the US even after an EMP attack?
They should hand it to everyone, tech that makes the life of people easier needs to be shgared period.Speaker to Animals wrote:What is Mexico doing to the United States right now?
Cortez might have showed up with gunpowder and horses five centuries ago, but they kicked the Europeans out of Mesoamerica two centuries ago and they are now slowly taking over the United States. What good was the United State's technological advancement when the American people were willing to hand it all over to the Mexica for low fruit prices?

Uh.. yeah, dude. Ghengis Khan alone killed more than 40 million people. He actually killed so many people, and destroyed so many cities, that he reduced the atmosphere's carbon levels.

That wasn't the point. I didn't say North Korea would take over in the aftermath of an attack. You argued that our superior technological advantage gives us some slam-dunk advantage against less sophisticated people. I pointed out that, in fact, it takes much less sophisticated technology to wreck a civilization than it does to build it, and illustrated that EMP technology as one example. As an example of the United States coming to be dominated by a more primitive people, I present you the Mexicans. They are coming to take over the United States right now. By the middle of this century, the United States, at current immigration levels, is projected to become a member of Latin America. They don't even need to attack us to do it either. The same thing could happen in the context of interactions with extra-terrestrial civilizations as well.

Yeah not really, you're problem is you watched that documentary with the captains before you watched DS9, otherwise you would barely notice at all.GrumpyCatFace wrote:It’s all over his performance. The weird smiles, the bizarre over-enunciation. The guy is off.
Ben Sisko isn't off, just Avery Brooks, problem is you only see Avery Brooks and not Ben Sisko. There are only a few scenes in the entire show where that Avery Brooks craziness shines through, like in the pilot when he re-lives meeting his wife, or that episode with Casino heist and he's all butthurt about 1960's Vegas being racist. It's not all over the performance, far from it.

If the civbilization cannot be destroyed or long term reduced in status it is not wrecked.
Mexican culture is so attractive compared toie the vision of the Founders? Why?

Do your projections include the falling birth rate of Latin Americans? Because, I'm not sure that they do, the Mexicans are nearly below replacement rate too, they ain't taking over shit long term unless they get that birth rate up, and the trend is moving the opposite direction on that one, throughout Latin America.
Somethings gotta give, expecting current immigration to continue forever with falling birth rates from the main sources of immigration, yeah probably not, doesn't take a genius to figure that one out.

I'd like you to try and present a unifying vision to Central/South Americans, and group them all together as a single culture. Shit would be hilarious.

They killed tens of millions of people and extinguished entire cities, bro. How is it that you don't even know your own history?
