Re: Google Memo
Yeah, normal Americans (like myself) are not down with what happened at Google.
That's not a victory for howling lunatics and net-zero pity prophets like we're seeing here though.
That's a victory for normal, well-adjusted people.
Meaning some of you are celebrating a victory that has nothing to do with yourselves.
Derp.

There's nothing normal about being such a beta, man. You need to stand up for yourself. Women don't need your help white knighting all the time.

When men on their bellies and faces lecture you on "standing up".
Dude, learn to crawl. THEN talk to me about standing.

He's gone a little off the deep end again, but let us be real here... those women who don't like men holding doors for them as a sign of respect and being a gentleman deserve to take a long walk off a short pier with cement shoes on.DBTrek wrote:Speaker to Animals wrote:

I don't know about that, I have no problem with folks being offended by whatever harebrained thing they decide to be offended by. The problem is when they can leverage what personally offends them into punitive action against others, as we saw at Google. The Conservative wrote:He's gone a little off the deep end again, but let us be real here... those women who don't like men holding doors for them as a sign of respect and being a gentleman deserve to take a long walk off a short pier with cement shoes on.DBTrek wrote:Dude, learn to crawl. The fact that the engineer's memo offended people isn't a problem.
The fact that the offended people can terminate his job and send a warning shot to anyone who isn't on the same ideological page as them is the problem.
I see it as a "tyranny of the weak" vs freedom of expression issue, not men vs. women.
In fact, any cursory examination of the story will reveal that men and women are aligned on both sides of the argument, so trying to cast it as a gender war is, by default, a bold declaration that one does not actually understand what has transpired.

LOL, wtf?
You are fucking nuts, man.
Anyhoo.. can you maybe formulate an argument about why men should be getting fired for speaking the truth, especially when they try to warn the organization that it's unblinking fealty to a false ideology is leading it towards harm?
If you want to protect women from hurt feelings, that's fine and all, but when the corporation is suffering because of it, surely we've crossed a line somewhere? I mean.. would you not want to speak out about a ship barreling full-steam ahead into an iceberg because speaking the truth might hurt the feelings of the female navigator? That's basically what we have here in the corporate context. G Money says, "hey guys, I am all for diversity and all, but we took it so far that our business is suffering". The response was: "OMFG you sexist evil white man! You're fired!" Full steam ahead.

Well folks, we're back from the stretch, and it looks like StA has given up completely. The arguments are over, time to bring out the strawmen. And there they go! Boy, this team has really been working hard, ya know they just seem to keep coming back, no matter what ya do to 'em.

Though, let's be realistic, no argument will be forthcoming from DB except for: "OMFG you are lying on your back and lecturing me! You want to create a Papal dictatorship! Don't listen to him! My feels!"

Asking for an argument is straw manning somebody? That's new.
Anyway, it amuses me that the biggest loon in this forum comes to DB's defense. I suppose he needs somebody. I feel happy that he has TC and GCF at his side.

Whoa, a foul ball just about ended up here in the booth! Really swinging for the fences today, with a stiff breeze from left field holding back the big shots. Looks like the StAs are losing order now, just kinda milling around the plate and swinging wildly.. Boy, I guess we'll just have to wait for them to tire out and get back to playing...
