Different ideological trenches.
Remarque was fucking pouting the whole time, while Junger was creaming his jeans.

I finished reading The People Who Eat Darkness. Its a true crime book about a rape/murder in Japan. When I have the time I am going to finish this Medici book I started. Also recommend Tom Holland's Dynasty, a sequel to Rubicon. The man can write!

Re: What Book Are You Reading at the Moment?
Just learned of the philosopher king of Texcoco (Nezahualcoyotl). He had a mystical experience in which he described encountering the unknowable creator. He seemed to be kind of like Akhenaten in that he claimed to experience the God of Life and rejected the paganism of his people. He never abolished the religion of the Texcoco, but he would not take part in human sacrifices. He prayed to God in his empty temple.
He wrote this poem:
With flowers You paint,
O Giver of Life!
With songs You give color,
with songs You shade
those who will live on the earth.
Later You will destroy eagles and tigers:
we live only in Your painting
here, on the earth.
With black ink You will blot out
all that was friendship,
brotherhood, nobility.
You give shading
to those who will live on the earth.
We live only in Your book of paintings,
here on the earth
Interesting man.
I wonder if anybody has connected his visions with what happened later..

Texaco's downfall was that Cortez had even lower gas prices.Speaker to Animals wrote:

Yes, clearly this was in reference to the Christian God. I remember Jesus spoke often about destroying brotherhood and friendship.Speaker to Animals wrote:

The worst part is your total lack of embarrassment after posting these ignorant comments. You had no idea what I was even posting about but you felt the need to exhibit your lunacy anyway.
You still have absolutely no idea what connects the poetry with the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe (You probably didn't even know its name). You don't care about it, or the history involved, or anything like that. You just want to let everybody know how ignorant and combative you are.

And how, exactly would you expect me to know that’s a picture of “the lady of Guadalupe”, and not the Virgin Mary?Speaker to Animals wrote:GrumpyCatFace wrote:Yes, clearly this was in reference to the Christian God.
