It wasn't all sjw, but there were some elements where the main character spoke about the Natives being able to have a civilization of their own and that it would mean that they had something without being taught it by the West or Europeans more broadly etc. Its like he didn't know about the Incas or Aztecs or Maya etc. b/c that already proved the New World had sophisticated civilizations before the Europeans arrived. Anyway, the thing I didn't like about the movie was that it seemed to not know if it was a biography or an adventure story. It tried to do both and it made it a bit clumpy but still interesting b/c hell the mans story is cool. It didn't really express his deep motivation or never ending desire to find that city enough. I think the lead actor did a good job overall with the plot he was given and their is a bit of suspense throughout. Mostly it made me want to read more about Percy Faucet.

7/10

The characters reasoning for it?

I didn't articulate that very well. What I was trying to say was 1). I don't know enough about what the main character historically really thought of the Native Americans and their culture etc. or 2). if the movie got that part right or 3). embellished it. But either way it didn't ruin the film. I'm not that jaded yet about the whole pc thing and I don't see red if it's there as long as it isn't too much. What is too much of course depends on your own personal taste, but really in this case I think the more pressing issue is the way the movie was edited, produced, written etc. than any real political message. There really wasn't any big message in the film other than wanting to explore, map, and find the city.

Alien: Covenant = Cool flick. Good action and science fiction elements. Danny McBride is good.
