I remember watching it live on TV.
Yeah, me too, and the movie has that angle, the Kate Adie point of view, but it adds the behind the scenes to it, both the preparation before hand, and the assault itself, taking you inside the building to see what you couldn't see on tv, putting you with the team to follow it all from their point of view. Also has all the hostage negotiation aspect, and the machinations at the home secretary level.

It's a no bullshit portrayal, no embellishment, no Hollywood silliness, the Regiment like the Regiment actually is, in all its chain smoking fu manchu moustached Chinese parliamentary glory.

Had to clear 56 rooms on 6 floors simultaneously!
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

The only thing the movie doesn't get right is the scale of the operation, they don't portray the entire squadron, but I totally get that, I mean, there was too many moving parts, the movie would have to be six hours long to do that, it's still a movie, they were right to narrow it down in terms of the number of troops involved, you wouldn't be able to follow along if it was 80 guys on screen.

They pick a few key characters, Rusty, Roy, Johnny Mac, the OC, so the audience can relate to it, if they tried to portray whole squadron, you wouldn't know who was who, all those SAS guys look the same, not to mention you'd probably need the budget of Star Wars to do it full scale.

It's not a documentary, it's still an action thriller, but they capture the spirit of it, within the confines of less than two hours with a netflix budget, without getting so precious about it that it just turns into an unrelatable ball of confusion for the audience.

No, it’s Billy Bob Thorton playing his usual sleazy self, for which he won an Emmy.

O ya, forgot about it. I did watch it and thought it was decent for what it was.
