Re: The Space War Thread
Japanese Bushidos have the samurai swords like a Gundam, not lightsaber tho, just a giant sword.
The American Apollos use Native Indian designs, like the Chingachgook war club/axe in Last of the Mohicans.
They're not shiny, they're black, carbon nonotube black.
The Russians don't use melee weapons, the Vityaz is not as advanced, it is heavy duty tho
In terms of interplanetary flight, it's nuclear electric, not constant acceleration, but sustained thrust.
Still takes months to get around, but not years.
In terms of weaponry, there's no reason for it to change much for space, it all works better in space anyways
So you have the railguns with DU ammo, and various types of smart bombs, mines, torpedoes and missiles.
Beam weapons are laser, microwave and particle beam
There are nukes, just bear in mind that there is no blast wave in space, so nukes are pure radiation.
As for the AI, it varies, it's Internet of Things so everything is a computer run by algorithms
For a NASA science ship or to run a colony, the AI is like HAL 9000 level
Warship AI is more like a really smart drone; automated crew ; can fight autonomously, but not HAL 9000
Exoships, Exosuits, Smart Weapons, all have their own AI, but only as smart as is needed to do the assigned role
There are androids, from HAL 9000 smart top of the line (rare) to canine level of intellect (common)
In terms of interface, everybody wears contact lenses to view both Augmented and Virtual Realty.
Comms is surgically implanted bone induction, so they have personal heads up display and wireless cybernetic.
Security is like quantum encryption, blockchain, etc, but they also use analog keys and locks ; can't be hacked.
They don't have view screens everywhere because they view everything though their contacts.
Guns are still guns, the same guns are used in the future, there's no reason for guns to change much.
They have the same kind of guns as now, they have ARs and S&W wheelguns and Remington 870s
Just fancier ammo and AI assisted fire control through AR and VR
They use Tokamak fusion reactors, quite sophisticated by this point, from power station sized down to compact.
For interstellar flight it's like the Orion, with the nuclear pellet push pad, Alpha Centauri is within reach.
These ships also fly the Solar System and get around much faster than rockets

Re: The Space War Thread
In terms of the style, the look of the technology, the American tech is very Kubrick 2001, 1960s NASA style.
The Russian kit has the Soyuz look to it, industrial Soviet style.
The Japanese are more artistic, their stuff is more colorful and stylized.
European stuff is ultra stylish chic, looks like it was designed in Milan
In terms of personal fashion, the Americans all look like they are out of the early 1960's
The style is called Nostalgia Americana
Japanese are Japanese, more outlandish styles.
The Europeans, again, Milan style, the style is very northern Italian
The Russians are all like Russian Mafia, they've got the tattoos and all that.

Re: The Space War Thread
This should honestly be StA's favorite thread, yet he hasn't even posted in it once, very strange.

In terms of factions in Spacemerica, there are Yankees in space, there is Dixie in space.
The Yankees are like William T Sherman Yankees tho, not Blue Staters.
There is not so much racial tension and enforced segregation
Never the less, Whites, Blacks, Hispanics & Asians is still a thing.

Re: The Space War Thread
In terms of the economy, not much has changed.
King Dollar is back on the gold standard, US Dollars are the digital currency, gold is the hard stuff
The stock markets are still on Wall Street, NYSE and NASDAQ in space.
NASA is the agency responsible for space exploration and colonization.
The federal government has an office in every colony, with a court and a jail and whatnot
The private sector runs the private sector, the government sticks to its knitting
Colonies are federal territories, eventually the big ones become States in the Union in space.
The National Command Authority is in place, military space operations still run through NORTHCOM in Colorado

There could be some kind of treaty signed that turns over a few American colonies to the UN and vice versa, which leads to former American colonists becoming Separatist terrorists rebelling against their new Godless Tranny Commie overlords but not wanting to rejoin America after being abandoned either.

Or the UN simply starts taking some of the colonies over,StCapps wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 10:40 pmThere could be some kind of treaty signed that turns over a few American colonies to the UN and vice versa, which leads to former American colonists becoming Separatist terrorists rebelling against their new Godless Tranny Commie overlords but not wanting to rejoin America after being abandoned either.

illegal immigrants start moving into the American colonies who aren't defectors but Globalist stooges.
Eventually they start to corrupt the colonial administration and civil conflict breaks out.

Can also still have Jihadists in space, the Islamic State has taken over the Mooslamb world
They don't have a space program, but they infiltrate space by way of Globalist stoogery.

Leading to a group of separatist terrorists that are raising tensions between the UN and America, fighting a lost cause for independence against both, because America doesn't back them they way they thought they should because it could lead to WWIII back on earth, and in desperation they lash out against America too, perhaps tragically right before they were about to side with them, while the rest of the Space Cold War goes on.
