If Mexico is going to pay for the wall, why does Trump need money from Congress?

That language clearly refers to the United States being invaded by a foreign army. You think they'd mention something about illegal immigration if that's what they intended.

No, not arguing for letting them in. Arguing for achieving the same goal using less money. A wall with no guards won't really accomplish much, for example. Unless you're going to shoot anyone who approaches your border, the guardians of that wall will need training in riot tactics. Look up how countries like Hungary, Macedonia and France/Britain (their sea border) had their borders crossed by force during the post-Syrian war migrant criisis, and how their police responded when migrants tried to tear down the border fences? Sending the army seems like killing a little spider with a shotgun. Sure, it's dead and gone, but it seems unnecesary overkill.heydaralon wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 5:35 pmDo you really think that if we let in that whole caravan no questions asked, and didn't make a fuss, the entire the Central American region wouldn't immediately try the same thing? Come on man...BjornP wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 5:33 pmCouldn't the repelling of illegal immigrants simply be done by existing police with riot training? Achieve the same outcome with fewer ressources, iow. Maybe grant federal funding for the states in need of more border police, with better riot training.
Isn't that whole Guatamalan caravan thing a one-off thing, though?
Fame is not flattery. Respect is not agreement.

And if you think this is theoretical or not already fucking handled, consider a little tidbit of history called the Pancho Villa Expedition.
A lot of Mexican banditos were robbing and murdering Americans on American soil. The President deployed General Pershing to chase down those guys and kill them. No declaration of war needed.

Oh, really? Where does it say that? It says invasion. Do enemy combatants need only remove their uniforms and come here as fucking "refugees"? For fuck sake think about what you are typing.doc_loliday wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 5:49 pmThat language clearly refers to the United States being invaded by a foreign army. Read it again:

Article 4 Section 4 states:
How does the the federal government protect each state from invasion by foreigners? The armed forces. The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.
Article 2 Section 2 states:
The President is the Commander in Chief of the armed forces. It is the job of the federal government, led by the President, to protect states from incursions by foreigners. The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.
He has every authority to do this. It's laughable that suddenly people get butthurt about a president allegedly overstepping his authority when Trump is the first guy in a LONG FUCKING TIME to actually get it right by forcing Congress to declare war in Syria if they want troops there and securing the God damned border from even more foreign national invading our country.

I'll fight both of you, at the same time, and fuck you both up real talk. Daralon's constitution protects him from any enemies, foreign or local. Come to Orlando and I'll TKD your ass into the hard groud.

Spazing out like a lunatic doesn't change what it means. The country isn't being invaded by the Mexican army as you purport.

Is there anyone left on the forum? How many survived the first wave?

So you have no response. The Constitution clearly defines this as one of the few authorities the president actually has, and you know you cannot counter the plain English.

I stopped taking you seriously when you brought up Sryia and accused me of calling illegal aliens refugees. I read the wikipedia article too. There was no seizure of land along a 2000 mile border and no wall.
