John Gibson is Rick DiPietro 2.0, imagine where Anaheim would be with Freddie Andersen now? Facing the most shots and best chances in the league, by far; 2.64 GAA, .922 SP, 26 W, 4 SO; he's the real Vezina Trophy Winner.
Vasilevsky, Bobrovski, Rask, and Rinne; are all good, but look at the D in front of them v. what Freddie Andersen has; he's the real Hart Trophy Winner when you think about it.
Look at fuckin' Morgan Rielly going to the same guy as Hainsey and leaves his man to do it, dogpark defence; I love the kid, but he's just as dumb as Gardiner in his own end.

Now if Jake Gardiner had done what Rielly did there, everybody would be castigating him, Golden Boy Rielly gets away with it, but that was a classic Jake Gardiner move, Jake Gardiner did that exact same thing last year in San Jose and Leafs Nation was crucifying him.
J-Gards is underrated, he doesn't get the credit he's due, he's racking up the points and playing consistently better than Mo is his own end, and he's more durable, and check this pass out, literally all world elite, that's an Erik Karlsson pass.

Watching the ski jump highlights. I want to know how they get their tight lycra on over their huge balls.

Truth be told, I'd rather have Gardiner at a reasonable rate than Subban at $9 million, if J-Gards takes 5 x 5.5 to stay with the Leafs, which I think he will, that's a done deal to re-sign him.
He more than makes up for his deficiencies with his skill, Subban is just as much a riverboat gambler, just as prone to brain cramps in his own end, he gets more points, but not $5 million dollars worth, Gardiner at $4.1 million is a moneyball steal.

Subban is not so much the riverboat gambler anymore, he's turned into one the best shutdown defensive defensemen in hockey. Way better in his own end than any defensmen the Leafs have, and by a country mile. $9 million is a little pricey but if you get Nashville to eat just a little of that, you should be dying to get a guy like Subban. Josi is more the riverboat gambler of the Nashville defense, same with Ellis, it's Subban and Ekholm who are the great in their own end guys of the Nashville top 4.Smitty-48 wrote:Truth be told, I'd rather have Gardiner at a reasonable rate than Subban at $9 million, if J-Gards takes 5 x 5.5 to stay with the Leafs, which I think he will, that's a done deal to re-sign him.

Hell ask Fife, if you don't believe me. Just because Subban kills it on offense too, that doesn't mean he's a riverboat gambler anymore, dude is fantastic in his own end, he's not who he was in Montreal anymore. Terrible fucking trade by Montreal, they trade him because they thought he was too much of riverboat gambler, then he turns into an even better shutdown defensemen than Weber almost immediately, just to spite them. Atta boy PK, you showed those frog faggots what was what.

Nashville has no reason to eat half that contract, they're not cap locked, and they don't suck, the more realistic reclamation project for the Leafs would be Weber, if Montreal retains half that contract, then I'd trade for him, they're not getting Nylander like they are fantasizing, but I'd throw them a first and some players and prospects not in the core.
Toews and Weber, at half price, those are the two contracts which are retention viable, Chicago and Montreal have to move those contracts or they will be stuck with them all the way to the bottom, Nashville is not in that position, so that's not happening.

I know, I'm just saying Montreal is fucking retarded for trading Subban for not being good enough in his own end, right before he turns one of the best shutdown defensemen in the NHL. How does Bergevin still have his job? He's got to be the single most retarded GM in all of hockey.Smitty-48 wrote:Nashville has no reason to eat half that contract, they're not cap locked, and they don't suck, the more realistic reclamation project for the Leafs would be Weber, if Montreal retains half that contract, then I'd trade for him, they're not getting Nylander like they are fantasizing, but I'd throw them a first and some players and prospects not in the core.

Plus neither Babcock nor Lamoriello would accept the PK circus on the team, if they're going for cap relief retention deals, they'll be going for Babcock's Team Canada faves, Captain Serious and The Big Nasty, that's why I can see it happening, if Chicago and Montreal accept reality.

PK circus is a Montreal media myth to justify one of the dumbest trades in the last decade. How did you still buy that nonsense? It's beyond me.Smitty-48 wrote:Plus neither Babcock nor Lamoriello would accept the PK circus on the team, if they're going for cap relief retention deals, they'll be going for Babcocks Team Canada faves, Johnny Toews and the Big Nasty.
