Maybe the pigs like living there. We dont really know what goes on in an animals mind. They probably form a close bond with the factory workers.

You defend the immoral exploitation of people for your own benefit, because without said exploitation, you would have to pay more for the product you are exploiting them to get.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Regardless of your ignorance on the economic issue, I'll play in the moral sandbox with you for a minute.Okeefenokee wrote:GrumpyCatFace wrote:
You're correct. We are side-stepping the morality of it, because the morality of it doesn't matter.
You can be noble and starve, or you can maintain the largest food infrastructure in history, because it's more moral to ALLOW people to make your food for a low wage, and not kill millions across the globe.
Any American can go to any farm right now, and get a job for minimum wage, picking food. They won't, they don't, and they can't. The economic distortion is too large. You can live nicely and support a family in Mexico for our minimum wage. You cannot do that in the US.
Now he says we're doing it for everyone else.
This is our message to the world. We must continue slavery, for your sake. We're doing this for you.
this is clown show garbage. just admit you're selfish and cheap, and don't want to pay market value as long as you can exploit people. this ain't about people starving around the world.
How, in your learned opinion, is this "slavery"? The migrants are coming across the desert (and often dying) for a chance to take a job that's not filled by Americans. At what point were they forced or coerced to do so?
You admit that the morality of the choice is not a factor, only the profit you gain through exploitation.
And in the next breath you will condemn monsanto for making the exact same calculated utilitarian decision.
You're an amoral degenerate hypocrite. The same sort that would defend slavery based on the cost abolition would inflict, while stating that morality is a non-factor.

It’s also possible that your Ag gag laws are even more draconian than ours. I really don’t know.

I can only repeat my question. I lived in Europe for three years, and like Hastur said, their agriculture is completely different from ours. They don't import beaners to work their fields. They pay more for food. They eat much less beef. They exercise more.GrumpyCatFace wrote:So... I’m wrong because I said I don’t know? Obvious troll is obvious. Farmers in Bavaria park their tractors outside the town Gasthofs in the evenings for a few beers before going home.
I bought my groceries in German grocery stores for three years, and it was never a problem.
You're wrong because you said you doubt it's any different despite knowing fuck all about it. You have no experience whatsoever to base that doubt on. You are so invested in the reasons you use to justify your support of, and here's the funny part, the very system that your boogeyman monsanto profits from, that you have to believe that there is no alternative.
When Hastur tells you agriculture in Europe isn't like it is in the US, your default is to doubt him. Your default is to reject what he says, despite knowing fuck all about it, because the existence of a food system not based on exploitative labor policies threatens the house of cards you've erected.

You're defending a system of exploitative labor that benefits you in the same way that slave owners defended slavery.GrumpyCatFace wrote:I can only repeat my question. It’s exploitative because of the absurd difference in currency value. Unless you want to change that, it’s hardly SLAVERY to allow some poor bastard to pick fruit on a wage that supports his family, when nobody here wants to do it.Okeefenokee wrote:You're defending a system of exploitative labor that benefits you in the same way that slave owners defended slavery.GrumpyCatFace wrote:I can only repeat my question. It's called Social dumping or Wage dumping. In most of the world it's generally frowned upon. In countries with working unions it will trigger blockades, boycotts, shaming and protests. It is greedy exploitative capitalism at it's worst. I can understand if some unhinged libertarian defends the practice, or some poor schmuck with no alternative ways of fending for themselves.GrumpyCatFace wrote:It’s exploitative because of the absurd difference in currency value. Re: 10 illegal alien farm workers arrested in MI
Correct that to a wage that would support his family in his own country. Why would you not want to pay a worker from a foreign country working in your country the same wage you'd pay your own citizens? If farm laborerers in the US are ALL supposed to, indeed designed to, work for a pay level that fits a Mexican standard of living, rather than an American one, is it truly that much of a mystery why American citizens don't want to occupy those jobs? Don't enough Americans already work double jobs just to make ends meet? You think that's perfectly OK, because after all, a Mexican - in Mexico - could live really well for the same wage?GrumpyCatFace wrote:

If you truly wanted to help that "poor bastard" from Mexico, then pay him what an American ought to be paid for the same job, a wage following the American consumer prices and living standards.
