Pensions work if they are worked out correctly. Credit Unions are a perfect example...Zlaxer wrote: ↑Fri Sep 14, 2018 1:00 pm
CT's pension obligation about about to go over 70% of the annual budget - MA isn't even close....Also, CT prop tax is close to double MA.
Just look at Hartford - nothing survives their because the 70+ mil rate.
CT politicians made a bunch of bogus contracts with state workers when times were good - now the bill is coming due and it's going to tear the state apart.
So - Ned will get elected governor with a DNC senate and house and Prop taxes will go up even more - Prop tax is most regressive tax since it gets passed straight to renters.
State politicians are beholden to state workers who want what they were promised even if it means driving the state off a fiscal cliff. Most state workers leave CT when they retire.

I thought the author was being silly in what he thinks will draw enough young people, and also overly negative about CT cities being unable to compete in the northeast. That said, there are two different groups of young people: the educated who want amenities and the working class who need affordability.Zlaxer wrote: ↑Thu Oct 18, 2018 7:51 amCT dems are either idiots or lying .... no other explanation for what follows:

Wrong - I'm in the educated class >250K married income...and we are very conscious of cost of living and taxes...My friends are conscious of the same....the article is a crock of shit IMHO....the author is either delusion or lying to propound the left's agenda of collectivism....
My wife and I could give two shits about what new trendy restaurants opened up in the city.....
If you want to live in a school district that isn't shit - it costs $$$,$$$.00....and Ned wants to make it more expensive to feed his Union masters...

At that income, you can live in Fairfield and spend your weekends eating your way from Old Saybrook to Hammonasset (although personally I’d be cheering at UConn and eating at Genos). You could live in guilford or Madison and have a great school system and a very high quality of life. You won’t get any of those things in a low tax state, not like what you’re used to, without also paying a fortune. I’m approaching retirement and seeing this for myself. To get a high quality of life, you have to pay.Zlaxer wrote: ↑Thu Oct 18, 2018 9:59 am

Respectively, you obviously have no idea how much housing costs....and I promise you...many people my age are finding that CT is quickly becoming overpriced - simply not worth it. We could move to TN and board our Kids at Exeter with our savings....
State pension MilSpec?

Re: Connecticut
I can tell you this MilSpec....I know for a fact that a large multi-national corp in CT has contingency plans in place to quietly dump their assets in CT should Ned win. Their CT sites are 1-2 million/month more expensive to operate than other regions, and they don't see that big of a difference in the quality of the work force from other parts of the country that are less expensive. CT politicians like to fondle the ballz of CT voters by telling them how educated and special they are - but they're not, really.
