The problem is that you were programmed to believe journalism is anything but propaganda. At best it is persuasion. One thing the classical and medieval peoples had going for them is that nobody thought to invent a bullshit term like "journalism". Any time somebody told you the "news" you had to take it with a grain of salt. Who is this guy telling you the news, who does he work for, what are his interests?

A journalist is just another evil talking monkey. Just like you. We all have agendas and biases. Especially now with us falling into another dark age, you ought not consider anybody as a so-called trusted source.

No one is asking for 100% all the time. Doing things like getting the political party of a racist governor correct is not too much ask. Neither is expecting self-proclaimed "news" organizations to report facts as best they can instead of racing to be the first to post what are basically rumors. If you want to be first, then drop the facade of being "journalists". Part of the reason no one wants to pay for their content is that the content is unreliable crap. Everyone in the world had access to the full Covington video the same day it occurred. Yet "journalists" chose to keep going with edited clips in order to serve their script.

I agree that journalism is important. Sadly, the US has little to none of it right now. A lot of that is self-inflicted, as the large corporations chose to write their own scripts for what the news should be rather than report on the facts and let people decide for themselves how they feel about it.

Journalism is a fraud. All of it. There is no journalism that is not fraudulent. The idea of journalism is that the writer informs people with the unbiased truth so that the reader possesses a clear understanding of the world.

That does not exist. A journalist is a sophist just like any other. They might have good intentions (most professional journalists do not), but that doesn't alter what they are.

They are no different than anybody else trying to make an argument or tell you about something. You don't think of a political commentator like Patrick Buchanan as some objective arbiter of the facts because he is not. Journalists are no different.

So for them to separate themselves from anybody else as some special arbiter of facts or truth is ridiculously fraudulent (and dangerous when most people believe it). Fortunately most people no longer believe this scam.

A journalist like that is going to have to have a day job, because all the journalism that pays is largely corrupt. They have to buy all of their own equipment, travel fees, basically they're going to have to do this all on their own dime. No pension, no 401k, and if your journalism interferes with your job schedule, what do you do? Do you choose to chase the story and lose your job for a profession that doesn't pay?
